We welcomed 6 new members to the Camp and they were; Benjamin Bunting, Michael Kemmerlin, Robert Miller, and Roscoe, Bryon, and Aaron Lee. We said the pledges to the flags and the opening prayer was given by a camp member.

Dale Presley was our speaker for the evening and gave a wonderful account of his family history and how they served our country. The events he relayed to us, showed how proud he is of his family heritage. Well done Dale!

South Carolina SCV Div Convention

HL Hunley Camp 143, Dixie level, Camp of The Year 2005 - 2006

Honoring our new Div Commander & Lt Commander

It has been over 100 years since a Division Commander was from the Charleston area. In fact, this is only the second time a Division Commander has come from the Charleston area. And with the Lt. Commander being from Mt. Pleasant, this is the first time the Low Country has had the top two positions in the SCV. Our Camp Commanders Walker Wright, Joe Willis and Monty Jones attended the drop-in honoring Randy Burbage and Gene Hogan. The event was scheduled April 7, at the Knights of Pythias. 40 to 50 SCV members came out and brought covered dishes and everyone had a good time. The support for these two men was great. They will embark on the journey to advance the South Carolina Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans in the name of our ancestors.

THE CHARGE

"To you, Sons of Confederate Veterans, we submit the vindication of the Cause for which we fought; to your strength will be given the defense of the Confederate soldier's good name, the guardianship of his history, the emulation of his virtues, the perpetuation of those principles he loved and which made him glorious and which you also cherish. Remember, it is your duty to see that the true history of the South is presented to future generations."
