Hunley Camp The
meeting was called to order and Commander Wright recognized our guest
and we felt privileged to have the 6th Brigade Cmdr David
Rentz attending. Monty Jones gave our invocation for dinner. Michael Blackwelder prepared our fine meal. After dinner we had the pledge, salutes, and Walker read the charges given to us by Lt. General Stephen Dill Lee in 1906. Our guest speaker was Adam Byerly and he talked about the Citadels involvement in the Civil War and the Star of the West Camp #1258. The Cemetery Committee is going to have Boone Hill Cemetery as a heritage project for 2006 and 2007. There are thirteen soldiers and about seven to nine unmarked graves in the cemetery. We are going to need camp members to help with cleaning headstones, doing some ground work, and placing southern crosses on graves. Also, camp members can help by donating southern crosses for $35.00 each. If we don't get enough donations, the camp will have to buy the crosses. If anyone is interested in helping at the cemetery or donating a cross, please see Woody Brown, Bobby Miller, Joe Willis, David Mitchell, or Larry Jameson.
